Students will receive special awards for completing events:
Platinum Medal 450 Points
Gold Medal 325 points
Silver Medal 200 points
Bronze Medal 100 points

Students who have a medal by the time of the party for that medal, may attend. (There is not a prerequisite, so even if a student doesn’t have enough points by the bronze party, they are still eligible to attend the Silver Party as long as they have the correct number of points by the designated date.)

EXPLANATION
This year, you will be performing “events” to earn points for yourself. All events are from Essential Elements, one of the Nelson technique sheets, concert music, or your scale sheets. In addition to right notes and rhythms, correct posture, foot tap, and metronome speed must also be demonstrated. The minimum tempo for all exercises is in Essential Elements is Q=66. If the event has been mastered, you will earn the points! LAST DAY FOR BAND OLYMPICS IS April 20, 2026.
HOW TO PASS OFF
You may pass off prepared events in the following ways:
Get an A on a playing test if it is also an Olympics event.
You may perform an event, If time permits, at the end of class, before or after school (make sure to check with your band director for availability).
Your lesson teacher can pass off an event in your lessons (only if time permits).
You may only pass off lines in the Essential Elements Book in sequential order–You may not skip lines. You must also complete any “Level 1” task before attempting and earning points for a “Level 2” task.
KEEPING TRACK
When you pass-off an event, a director will initial the box on the back of this sheet. The band directors will also keep track of all events and points on a master spreadsheet.
